Who Are We?
We are a small Black-owned family-run bakery specializing in making the best Chicago Style Butter Cookies as well as making high quality desserts as a whole!
Head Baker Marcus, showed an interest at a young age in the culinary arts. His mother Marilyn, who called him “ The Nutty Professor” because he always was making concoctions, did her best to nurture his passion, letting him attend as many cooking camps and classes as she could to hone his craft.
At the age of 18, Marcus was asked by a friend to make her wedding cake, a daunting taste as up to that point, he had only made small desserts. He took the change and made a 4 tiered Rosette Buttercream Cake that eventually became the model for Signature Sweets Factory logo! Afterwards orders for cakes, cupcakes, sweets tables started to pour in, so much so Marcus decided to quit his first job to focus on baking full time.
A few years later, with the help of his mother and family, He opened up a storefront bakery in his hometown of South Holland, IL, which served as the base of operations and a place were Marcus could serve the unique creations he came up with, such as Peach Cobbler Cinnamon Rolls, 5 Layer Cupcakes, and Grown Folks (banana liquor) Banana Pudding.
Unfortunately, Due to the Pandemic, the storefront closed its doors in early 2020. Turning lemons into lemonade, Marcus and his mother Marilyn then transferred there efforts to the booming Grocery Store Business, were they sold CPS Butter cookies similar to the ones Marilyn loved as a kid.
They started with 1 grocery store in Bronzeville, Chicago and currently two date have expanded sales to over 50 grocery stores across the Chicagoland Area, reaching a customer base far larger then there storefront ever could!
